2. Sight Words: (SW is what the students will write in their agendas.) - Each child has a list of sight words in one of their binder pockets that are checked off by the teacher every other Friday. Please look at the log sheet to see what words your child should be practicing. Students should practice sight words at least 2 times per week. The log sheet should be signed by the parents twice each week after practice is completed. Please DO NOT write or make marks on the checklist!
**Students who have mastered the Fountas and Pinnell word lists will start on the Fry Word List of 1,000 words.
3. Guided Reading: (GR is what the students write in their agendas.) Each night students bring home a book to read. This needs to be read out loud to an adult and is the book we are working on in class. *Students should read the book at least 2-3 times depending on the length/difficulty of the book. It will GREATLY help your child's comprehension to ask them questions about the book. There may also be extra books for your child to read. Reading homework should last around 15 min. Parents, please sign and mark the reading log that comes home with the book. GR books and reading logs are kept in the pocket in the binder. GR must be done nightly.
